AIMS:

The course aims to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of the requirements of the International Convention on Load Lines (ICLL), as amended, and to develop the competency required to conduct load line surveys, inspections, and certification in accordance with statutory and classification society standards.

It is designed to equip surveyors with the technical expertise to assess vessel compliance, ensure safety of life at sea, and maintain structural integrity through proper assignment and verification of load lines.

OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the framework, scope, and application of the International Load Line Convention (ICLL 1966, as amended).
  • Interpret and apply load line regulations in practical survey situations.
  • Identify structural and weathertight integrity requirements of ships.
  • Conduct initial, annual, intermediate, and renewal load line surveys.
  • Verify freeboard calculations and load line assignments.
  • Assess compliance of openings, closing appliances, and deck fittings.
  • Evaluate conditions of assignment for load lines.
  • Understand survey reporting, certification, and documentation procedures.
  • Apply relevant IMO resolutions, circulars, and classification rules.
  • Ensure compliance with Port State Control (PSC) requirements.
