AIMS:

The course aims to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and to develop the practical competence required to conduct internal and external audits of Safety Management Systems (SMS) onboard ships and within shipping companies.
 It equips participants with the technical and procedural understanding necessary to assess compliance with ISM Code requirements and promote safe ship operations and pollution prevention.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To understand the structure, purpose, and application of the ISM Code 
  • To develop competence in planning, conducting, and reporting ISM audits 
  • To interpret ISM Code elements and their practical implementation onboard and ashore 
  • To assess the effectiveness of Safety Management Systems (SMS) 
  • To identify non-conformities, observations, and areas for improvement 
  • To ensure compliance with IMO regulations and flag/state requirements 
  • To enhance auditing, interviewing, and reporting skills
